Hey friends! When my daughter Marah turned 1 this year, I styled a Spring Swan first birthday party. I wanted to create a feather wreath to go along with my daughter’s dress. I’ll be sharing the DIY tutorial on how to make your own! Honestly, it was super easy and fun to make.

How To Make A Feather Crown
1. Begin by twisting the ends of your pipe cleaners together. Then, measure your child’s head to find out the size of their crown. Instead of using a measuring tape, I just wrapped the pipe cleaner around my child’s head and cut off the excess using scissors. You will need 2 or 3 pipe cleaners, depending on your child’s head size.
2. Create a circle with your pipe cleaners to fit your child’s head and twist the other ends of the pipe cleaners together.
3. Glue feathers onto the pipe cleaner crown using a hot glue gun. Point your feathers in the same direction to create a consistent look.
4. (Optional) Glue on your greenery or flowers. Since we planned a Spring Swan party, I added greenery and floral accents to the crown to match the rest of the decorations.
The crown went so well with my daughter’s birthday dress! Funny story: We had anticipated getting a few decent photos of her wearing the crown and dress but the photo shoot didn’t quite go as planned. Our one year old was so interested in playing with balloons and taking off her feather head band that we only got a couple good photos. *Shrugs. We still had fun with it!
Creating a feather wreath is so easy and you might even have the supplies in your craft tote!
