Do you know a little girl who would love a Minnie Mouse party? My daughter Kalani just turned 6 and Minnie is one of her favorite characters. So I styled a Minnie Mouse birthday party just for her!
My decorations are based around polka dots, bows and mouse ears! So simple! I’ll be sharing details about how to set up an ice cream station and easy Minnie Mouse style decorations.

If you don’t want to dump tons of money into a party backdrop, why not make one for yourself? It’s really simple to do! I made a backdrop of streamers and here’s how I did it!
How to Make a Streamers Backdrop
Supplies You Need:
-String or twine
-3 different colors of streamers
-2 push pins
-Scissors
1 . First, cut a string or twine about 3 or 4 feet long. (or longer depending on how big you need it)
2 . Then tie each end of the string to a push pin.
3. Push the pins into the wall so the string hangs level & horizontally behind your party table. Hang at least a foot or two above eye level.
4. Gather your streamers of all different colors. Cut the streamers into pieces of varying lengths. Mine were around 10 feet long but some were shorter or longer. Be sure to cut them long enough to cover the whole wall behind the table.
5. Drape the streamers over the string and arrange them so the wall is fully covered.

It’s kinda fun to add flowers or accents to your balloons. In this case I attached paper bows to the balloons for an extra detail. If you need polka dot balloons, Hobby Lobby’s got your back!
Setting Up the Dessert Table & Ice Cream Station
When I’m hosting a kids’ party, I like to make the process as easy as possible. A self-serve ice cream bar was just the set up I needed to accomplish my goal. It was seriously such a hit with the guests!
Have you ever heard a guest complain about too many toppings? I haven’t! Be sure to offer a variety of toppings when setting up an ice cream bar. Here’s a few ideas!
Toppings List:
Brownie bits
Pretzel bits
Gummy Bears
Sprinkles
Cherries
Oreo bits
Strawberries
Marshmallows
Caramel syrup
Chocolate syrup
To display the toppings, I just used paper treat cups that I found at Hobby Lobby. (my go-to party store!)
Ceramic dishes are another perfect way to display toppings. I found mine at the Target Dollar spot. Be sure to stop by my daughter’s Unicorn ice cream bar to discover extra topping ideas!
Re-usable spoons were just what I needed to serve up the toppings. They are practical and they come in a variety of colors. Check them out at Sweets & Treats shop!
One of my favorite ways to eat ice cream is in a waffle cone with a few yummy toppings. I knew that the guests would thank me for extra options, so I offered treat cups, waffle bowls, waffle cones, and traditional cones.
Minnie Mouse Cupcakes
Sprinkles can make any day better right? One of my go-to cupcake recipes is Funfetti Sprinkle Cupcakes from Sally’s Baking Addiction blog. These cupcakes are so yummy and fun.
To go along with the Minnie theme, I accented the frosting with bow sprinkles, white pearls and mini Oreos for ears!
I’m all about presentation at a party and cake stands add the the perfect element! Amalfi Decor provided this cute cake stand that matched my theme just right.
Setting up a Kids’ Table
If the kids are happy, everyone’s happy right? I just set up a simple party table for the kids. Having individual spaces for each kid helps the party run so smoothly!
I kept it simple and went with Minnie Mouse plates to decorate the kids’ table. You can find them on Amazon or Walmart.
Another fun option would be these free printable Minnie Mouse ears for plates from The Chickabug Blog.
What kid doesn’t love a cute bottle of juice with a straw? Glass milk bottles are always a fun way to serve up drinks! I dressed these up with polka dot construction paper and bows!
Let the kids take a cupcake or 2 .. or 3 while they sit at their spaces! To make snacking easy, I just set up a cupcake stand at the center of the kids’ table.
The result? A pretty decoration element and and yummy snack for the kids. Win, win!
I hope you feel inspired to throw a Minnie Mouse birthday party. Minnie mouse is such a classic and fun theme to decorate for! All you need to make this happen is a simple snacks, fun DIY decorations, and a bit of creativity.
Are you planning a Minnie Mouse party? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
