If you are looking for cute and easy birthday party ideas for girls, I’ve got ya covered. When my daughter turned 1, I threw a Spring Swan first birthday party for her with tons of sweet details. I’ll be spilling the beans about how I set the party up and sharing some fun DIY feather decoration ideas. I’m so thrilled to share all the details of this party!
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined seven other bloggers in a Spring Party Blog Hop created by Jordan’s Easy Entertaining. You will find more Spring party ideas at the bottom of my post!

Snacks are such an essential part of every party but I definitely don’t go all out. I’m all about making things easy when it comes to prepping kids’ party food. My go-to treats are usually finger foods that match my party theme.
Since I’m not a pro cake decorator, I usually make cupcakes instead. My go-to recipe for any party are these delicious cupcakes from Lindsay, a blogger over at Life, Love and Sugar. These cupcakes are so moist and delicious! (Bonus!)
I’m sure you can order darling cake toppers on Etsy, or your could just make your own!
I created my cupcake toppers using a simple Swan picture that I found on Canva. All I did was glue a toothpick to the backside and attached feathers to the body! These were so easy and I’m happy with the final result!
Have I mentioned that I LOVE the creative details of every birthday party? Although my snack choices are fairly simple, I love to spice it up a bit by adding cute accents to my party favors.
Creating these party favor bags was both fun and easy! All I did was fill cellophane bags with yogurt covered raisins. The feathers, greenery and ribbon added just the touch I needed to make these pop!
Who doesn’t like powdered donuts? I just picked these babies up at the store and they matched my theme perfectly! See, I really am all about no fuss when in comes to food preparation.
Spring Swan First Birthday Party Decorations
Finally the moment I’ve been waiting for. Don’t get me wrong, food is great but I’ve been impatient to get into the party decorations.
When I’m planning a party, I like to base my decorations around a certain theme and color palette. In this case, I chose a spring swan theme with white, pink and green. In order to tie everything together, I added sprigs of greenery and feathers details!
I love to use colorful vases and jars to accent my parties. I’ll admit it, I’m an avid collector of beautiful jars and vases of any color. When I found these beauties at a thrift store, I just couldn’t pass them up!
White feathers added just the perfect details I needed to accent my swan theme. I just had to add the feather touch to my party favors, swan cake toppers and feather wreath backdrop.
I’m not kidding, I think we will have white little feathers floating everywhere for days! Instead of buying the small bag I saw at Walmart, I just bought a feather boa and had tons left over for another project!
Oh and I can’t forget to mention I love Felt Letter Boards! Ever since I received mine as a gift, I can’t stop thinking of ways to use this in my parties! Quotes and sayings are my absolute favorite.
If you love DIY party decorations, you don’t want to miss out on how to make your own feather Spring wreath backdrop. I had this idea stuck in my head for a while, and I just had to create one.
After I hung the Spring wreath, the center seemed like it needed a little something extra. Since I love to practice my art and brush lettering, I created a framed sign with my daughter’s first initial and feather details using Tombow Brush Pens. This darling frame was another one of my thrift store treasures!
What girl doesn’t need a frilly dress to wear, just because? My daughter received this sparkly dress from her Grandma and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a cute photo shoot!
My little one year old was dressed so cute, I thought she needed to have a handmade feather crown too! (which she kept on this head piece for all of two seconds, but that’s ok!)
Behind the Scenes
My daughter Marah enjoyed her cupcake to the fullest and dove right into it! I’ve had some kids who kind of picked at the cupcake and didn’t want to get dirty. But not her! My daughter has the sweetest little personality and she loves to climb, walk along furniture and crawl everywhere!
My other kids got to join in on the fun and create their own feather crowns. If you’d like to find out how to make your own, be sure to take a peek at my DIY feather crown tutorial. With just a few supplies, my kids and I got to work creating crowns. They were super easy to make and the kids loved them.
Throwing an elegant and fun party doesn’t have to be expensive. Using my creativity, I made my own decorations and found cost-effective snacks.
My Spring Swan first birthday party is just one of my party themes that I’ve done over the years. With 4 kids, I’m constantly scheming up my next birthday party theme! Be sure to check out birthday party ideas that I’ve posted on the blog before you go!
