Do you want to plan more date nights with your spouse but it’s hard to get out of the house or spend the extra money? It can seem especially difficult to plan dates if you have kids. After the kids went to bed, I created a cute atmosphere and we had a date night in the backyard! Enjoy!

Are you a S’mores fan? I’d take a S’more any day!! Just for fun I styled a S’mores tray and decorated using succulents and a small wooden stand.
A S’mores tray is just one fun way to present your chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. Another fun idea is my S’mores bar that I arranged at our harvest party last year!
There’s just something romantic about sitting around the campfire with your spouse. It’s so much easier to talk and open up to each other by the fire.
My husband and I relaxed by the fire, roasted marshmallows, and used these conversation starters to help guide our discussion.
You can print them off on the Dating Divas blog, a place to find fun date ideas and other resources to strengthen your marriage.
After roasting our marshmallows, we feasted upon S’mores and Frozen Hot Chocolate. If hot chocolate is your “cup of tea”, you should really check out this recipe on Mel’s Kitchen Cafe blog.
The ingredients are pretty basic and they are delicious! To top it off, I added whip cream and chocolate sprinkles.
Here’s a bird’s-eye view of our picnic table centerpiece. I love styling using colorful jars and Succulents. If you are a fan of Succulents, you can find them at Silk Plants Direct.
Be sure to check out my product review where I discuss my thoughts about these plants.
Since I recently hosted a 4th of July party, I had a these cute striped straws left over. I found them at the Target Dollar Spot for a only a buck! I’m all about reusing party supplies and paper goods!
If you are looking for fun and easy date ideas, a date night in the back yard would be the perfect idea for you. There are so many possibilities.
If you don’t have a fire pit, you could try these easy home baked S’mores on The Spruce Eats blog and still enjoy relaxing in the backyard together.

These are such fun ideas! I definitely want to find more ways to have “dates” at home. 🙂
Thanks so much!! It’s really fun to be creative without spending a bunch of money!
I’m such a S’mores fan!! Love how you displayed it all! Cute little game and set up! I’ve got to plan a home date night too, great thinking!
Thanks so much!! We had such a fun time!
What a cute idea!! I love nights in the backyard with my hubby and setting a cute table and fire up makes it extra special!
Thanks so much! We definitely like our nights together in the backyard too!
We almost always have date nights at home because we live in such a rural area. My husband built a grill out of a 55 gallon drum, and we have sat outside and made smores in the evenings. It was so much fun! We also like to hike or walk near home.
That’s so great that you do dates at home too.. We also live in a rural area so it’s just as easy to date at home.
What a cute idea. We don’t go on many dates, so doing this would be special!
Thanks! It’s definitely fun and a lot easier to have a date night at home 🙂
I planned a backyard date night when my hubby and I first got married and he still says it was our best date ever. Next time I’ll definitely have to add s’mores 🙂
That’s so cool Jordan! It’s great to have those kind of memories 🙂
What a great idea. I love this. We need a simple date night and I don’t want to pay for a sitter!!!
Thanks Holly! I know, simple is always best!
