Almalfi Decor & Daydream Society provided me with free product for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
My family and I are big fans of the movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Since we watch it every year around Christmas time, I decided to host a Whoville themed movie night. I set up a simple popcorn bar with easy “Grinch inspired” popcorn recipes.

My kids were beyond thrilled when I told them it was movie night! They loved getting to choose their own popcorn flavors and toppings as well!
We couldn’t have movie night without getting the classic photo of all my kids lined up on the couch, even our 6 month old little guy. He didn’t really watch the movie but he wanted to get in on the fun too!
Fun With Temporary Tattoos
My kids love temporary tattoos! These tattoos came from Daydream Society and they go along with their cute Merry and Bright tableware collection.
The kids loved showing off their tattoos for the camera! Can you tell they are excited for family movie night?
My son loved the little dog tattoos best! When I took this picture, he had a tough time resisting the urge to sneak a candy from behind him.
Cindy Lou & the Grinch Popcorn Recipes
I’ve always been a HUGE fan of popcorn. As a kid, I used to anticipate receiving those large tins with assorted popcorn for Christmas. Y’know the kind with three flavor options? I still love them!
With that in mind, I created my own popcorn recipes inspired by the Grinch and Cindy Lou! Grab my free printable labels (& Cindy Lou gift tag) to set up your own popcorn station!
My husband came up with the Grinch inspired popcorn! This popcorn has a savory flavor and it’s seasoned with garlic and onion. We thought this might be a food the Grinch would enjoy!
Who doesn’t love sweet little Cindy Lou Who? This popcorn is inspired by Cindy Lou and it’s just about as sweet! This is really easy to make using Wilton Candy Melts. Find the full Cindy Lou Popcorn recipe here!
Moving on to one of my favorites ever, caramel popcorn! I really love this recipe because it tasty amazing and it’s really easy to make. You can find this recipe on the blog Taste and Tell.
When I placed gold treat cups onto my cake stand, they looked like a match made in heaven! This stand has a mirrored top and it’s just perfect for holiday parties.
Anndd… I can’t forget popcorn toppings! Candy toppings always make a popcorn bar complete! I found a few Christmas style toppings to match my theme.
Popcorn Toppings
Trolli Sour Brite Trees
Lemon Head Candy Canes
Snow Caps
Marshmallows
These pretty plates and napkins from Daydream Society matched my popcorn bar SO well. Aren’t they so bright and cheerful?
Drinks Station
When I’m styling a table, I like to coordinate the juice color to match the decorations. When I found this Artic Blitz Gatorade, I fell in love with the color instantly.
These cups from Daydream Society were such a “dream” to use! Then I added bright straws from Target to complete the look.
Popcorn Bar Decoration Ideas
When I discovered Daydream Society’s tableware, I felt inspired to decorate my popcorn bar based around the color scheme. Bright colors are so fun to decorate with and they are just my style.
My pretty pink cake platter from Amalfi Decor accented the popcorn bar just right! This stand is absolutely stunning!
If you are looking for simple ways to decorate, brush trees and ornaments are inexpensive and fun. Brush trees are the latest trend and they are so stinkin’ cute! I found mine at the Target Dollar Spot.
I loved incorporating the Grinch party theme into my popcorn bar set up. This cute little present was the just thing I needed.
All I did was wrap up an empty box, add some pink yarn, and topped it off with a cute gift tag. Grab my free printable gift tag! (& popcorn bar labels!)
My backdrop was really simple to make. To create my ornament banner, I threaded Christmas balls onto a string of yarn and added the Grinch themed ornament at the center.
I made the Grinch ornament by drawing a Grinch face onto a Christmas ball using fine tip paint markers!
Do remember anxiously counting down the days until Christmas as a kid? I loved to make paper chains and rip off a chain link each day.
Paper chains are so easy to make. Plus they are the perfect project to let the kids get involved! Learn how to make your own paper chains here.
If you are hosting your own Whoville and the Grinch movie night party, don’t worry about spending a lot of money or going all out. Just have fun with it! I hope my ideas inspired you to host your own movie night or popcorn bar.
Grab your free printable labels & tags to get started!!
