Setting Up a Cookie Decorating Table
Kids’ tables are one of my favorite things to decorate! Mostly, I kept this tablescape really simple for the kids. For each place setting, I set out pink plates, red cups, and gingerbread plates from Jollity and Co! For each child, I had sugar cookies and a glass of milk available!
Need a yummy sugar cookies recipe? I found an amazing Christmas sugar cookies & easy icing recipe over at Sally’s Baking Addiction blog! To make cookie decorating easy for the kids, I filled up squeeze bottles (from Hobby Lobby!) with icing! It worked wonderfully!
Let’s talk about the table decorations! When I’m styling a kids’ table, I like to use practical items like dishes with sprinkles, colorful frosting bottles, honeycomb decorations and ornaments! This keep it low stress and there’s no worries if the kids play with or bump over anything!
Of course my kids loved having a variety of toppings to decorate with! Here’s a few you could try! Sweets and Treats shop provided all of the sprinkles for this party! We loved all of them!
Toppings Ideas:
–Christmas Stocking Sprinkles
–Merry & Bright Sprinkles
–Light Pink Sugar Pearl Sprinkles
-Crushed Candy Cane Bits
–Frosty the Snowman Gummies
–Christmas M & M’s
My kids enjoyed decorating their own sugar cookies with minimal assistant from me! The squeeze bottles made it so easy for them to start decorating and enjoy their time!
If you are planning to decorate cookies with your kids, don’t worry about getting everything perfect. Honestly, kids are just as happy with a few sugar cookies to decorate, frosting and sprinkles. The decorations are nice but not always necessary!
Setting up a Dessert Table
Are you decorating a dessert table? Here’s my advice: Keep it simple! All you need are a few goodies, cute cake stands and a fun backdrop!
To create my backdrop, I used a paper fans from Jollity & Co in a variety of colors!
How to Create a Paper Fan Backdrop
First I ordered red, pink, white & green paper fans! They came folded up so I opened them and attached the ends together using scotch tape.
These fans had strings and a brown edge so I trimmed that off. I rolled up scotch tape and attached them to the wall to create a fun arrangement!
If you need EASY snack ideas, just set out a few donuts and decorated sugar cookies! I just picked up the donuts at Walmart which made it so much easier! Anything to save time right?
Do you need a way to display your toppings? Festive cupcake liners are the perfect solution! Check Walmart, Amazon.com or any department store to find these.
Another idea: Set a liner filled with sprinkles next to each child’s space at the table!
All though I’m not a pro cookie decorator, I had a blast decorating a few of my own sugar cookies. They looked super cute on a fun cake stand! I love these stands because you can incorporate any color of ribbons!
If you want to make fun memories for the special kids in your life, a Christmas cookie decorating party is such a fun and easy idea! My kids enjoyed every minute and it really didn’t take long to set up!
