School starts in less than a week and my kids are ready to go back! Lucky for me they are still at the age where they are brimming with excitement.
To get them into the school spirit, I put together a back to school breakfast party for them to enjoy.
This party is totally do-able. Mostly I incorporated decorations from around the house and a few easy breakfast foods!

All of my kids are crazy about balloons. So I decided to surprise them with a balloon letters back drop and a giant bus balloon!
I want to extend a huge thank you to Instaballoons for providing the balloons for this party.
Tips for Setting up a Balloon Letter Wall
The first thing I did was set up the balloon letter wall. It was no hassle at all to create! Here’s a few tips to get started.
-Use a balloon pump to blow up the balloons
-Tape down any flaps to the back of the balloon
-Attach the letter balloons to the wall using clear scotch tape;
roll the tape back onto itself and add at least 2 pieces
per balloon.
-Place them high enough on the wall so that little kids don’t grab them (my 2 year old LOVED the bus balloon)
Party Food and Decoration Ideas
After I installed the balloon letters, I set up a few fun and easy decorations! To make toppers for the muffins, I cut out shapes from construction paper, attached them to a toothpick, and inserted them into the muffins. Then I placed the muffins on a cute cake stand!
Fruit is always a healthy choice to add to a breakfast bar. Just fill a few treat cups with fruit and the kids can serve themselves! Treat cups are so handy for pretty much any finger food.
Orange juice is the classic breakfast drink and one of my favorites! All I did was fill glass milk bottles with juice and added cute straws! These are always a hit with my kids!
The ABCs, reading and writing are all things I associate with going back to school! So I dug into my kids puzzles and found a set of ABC letter puzzle pieces to add to the decor. Wooden letter blocks would be another fun decoration idea!
Have your kids ever tried Alpha-Bits cereal by the brand Post? The kids can work on spelling words with the cereal letters!
A self serve cereal station is an easy and fun idea to set up for the kids on the first morning of school! All I did was fill up jars of cereal and served them on a tray and cake stand to create a fun look.
Have you heard of the term “shop your house?” Normally I browse my house to see what decorations I have on hand before I go out and buy anything.
In this case, my kids’ school supplies were the perfect addition to my party decorations!
You guys, I can’t get enough of these re-usable yellow spoons! They are so handy to use for any party theme.
I hope you found a few simple ideas to throw a back to school breakfast party for your kids. Whether it’s making making a balloon wall or setting up a simple cereal bar, the kids will appreciate it!
We can’t forget about the teachers who do so much for our kids! To show our appreciation, we put together apple themed gift basket for the teachers’ one year. They were so easy to put together.
Are you hosting a back to school party? I’d love to hear about in the comments!
