My daughter Marah just turned two so we celebrated with a fun galaxy themed birthday party. Our little girl was starry eyed over all the fun treats and decorations!
If you’re planning a galaxy or star themed party, it’s pretty easy to find party decorations in the right colors. Let’s get started!

When I’m planning a party, I like to keep my decorations and food simple and yet creative. Kids don’t seem to mind if you go all out on a party or keep the decorations simple.
Galaxy Themed Birthday Party Food
Galaxy cupcakes are super fun to make. I found a simple cupcakes recipe, dyed the batter pink with food coloring, and made a galaxy swirl frosting using a tutorial from Rosanna Pansino. She makes it look pretty easy!
Then I added the cutest galaxy sprinkles from Sweets & Treats Shop for a finishing touch. Sprinkles are such a sweet topping for cupcakes and they add a little extra cuteness.
I love to use cake stands in my party set ups. They are so simple and elegant at the same time. My silver cake stand from Amalfi Decor was the perfect focal point for the party table!
A favorite treat of mine is jello jigglers. They are so simple to make and the kids love them. I placed these on a cake stand to dress them up a bit.
Kids just seem to gravitate toward jello jigglers. My daughter (the birthday girl) ate two of these before the party even started. I supposed she deserved it since it was her special day!
Another simple snack is chocolate covered popcorn. All I did was melted chocolate flavored melts and drizzled it over the popcorn. Then I added galaxy sprinkles for a bit of pizzazz.

Individual treat cups are the perfect way to display popcorn and other treats. These make it easy for guests to grab a snack and keep on visiting. Did I mention these treat cups come in all sorts of colors?! Score!
We served Blue Hawaiian punch as a beverage. This juice was a hit with the kids and matched my party colors perfectly.
Galaxy Themed Birthday Party Decorations
There’s something about the night sky that I find intriguing. I love to gaze up at the sky on a starry night and watch for shooting stars.
Since I love the galaxy so much, naturally I wanted to design a party based around this fun theme. I incorporated a mixture of swirling galaxy colors and star accents to create unique party theme.
For this party, I bought basic paper goods in corresponding theme colors. I was beyond thrilled to find these cute star plates at the Dollar Tree.
What can I say? I can’t plan a party without fancy straws! These star straws were so cute I couldn’t resist adding them to the set up.
To create a starry night sky backdrop, I cut out stars from construction paper and attached them to the wall with double-side tape! If you are looking for construction paper, Hobby Lobby is my go-to place.
One of my favorite party decorations was this balloon arch. This was really easy to make! You can learn how to make your own here!
Kids Party Activity
If you are planning a kids’ party, try making galaxy play dough! Play dough makes the perfect party favor for the kids to take home.
First, I found an awesome play dough recipe to make! Then I added blue food coloring, star confetti and glitter. Lastly, I divided the play dough evenly and stored it in baby food jars that I had saved.
To dress up the jars a bit, I spray painted the jar lids and added twine as a finishing touch. These jars of play dough were easy to put together and the kids loved them. I’ll admit I had just as much fun making the play dough! Win, win!
Overall, our little shining star was happy, so our party was a success! Thanks for stopping by and good luck party planning! I hope you feel inspired to plan your own galaxy themed birthday party.
