Do you love to create your own DIY ornaments? I’m going to show you a fun way to decorate clear fillable ornaments! I just filled my ornament with fake snow and confetti to create a fun look! Then I personalized it with a “K”, my last name initial. It’s super easy and fun!
This tutorial is day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas Inspiration! A few of my blogger friends will be sharing more ornament ideas at the bottom of the post. Be sure to check that out!
To get started, you only need a few basic supplies!
Supplies list:
-Clear ornament
-Fake snow
-Foil confetti
-Paint marker
-Ribbon
-Scissors
Personalize Your Ornament
The first thing I did was write a letter “K” on my ornament! I chose this because K is the first letter of our last name. I found a font I liked on dafont.com and copied it using a paint marker!
For this step, don’t worry about getting your letter perfect. Just have fun with it!
After I wrote out my letter K, I let it dry for a minute or two. Then I went over it again with paint maker.
I found that dotting lightly over the top of the letter works best. If you press down to hard with the marker, the first layer will smudge off.
Fill Your Ornament
For the next step, I removed the top of the ornament and poured in some fake snow.
I filled up the ornament about half way full.
Next, I poured in a small bag of foil confetti.
Then I replaced the lid back on and shook the ornament a few times to mix up the snow and confetti. If you love this shimmery look, be sure to check out 12 glitter crafts for Christmas!
Attach a Hanger
To add a nice touch, I tied a ribbon at the top of the ornament. I chose black and white plaid to match my Christmas theme but feel free to choose whatever you like!
To do this, I cut about an 8 inch piece of ribbon.
Then I looped the ribbon through the top of the ornament and tied a knot at the top.
When I finished, I had a bit of excess ribbon so I trimmed a little off of the edges.
That’s all there is to it. This snowball Christmas ornament would be a fun gift to give away to friends or family! Just personalize it with their last initial!
