Do you remember making paper chains as a kid? Back in my elementary days, I loved to keep a tally of how many days until Christmas!
Paper chains are perfect decoration or a fun count way for the kids to count down the days until Christmas! I used my paper chains to create a back drop for my family’s Whoville and the Grinch movie night. They were really so simple to make.

Supplies:
-2 sheets of 12″ x 12″ Card Stock Paper
(not the exact color; just an option)
–Paper Cutter
-Scissors
-Glue Stick
-Pencil
HOW TO MAKE PAPER CHAINS
Using a ruler, measure 1 inch marks all the way across the paper and draw small pencil marks. You’ll end up with strips that are 1″ wide by 12″ long. Repeat this step for the 2nd piece of paper.
To create a fairly long chain, I used 2 sheets of paper. You can make your chain shorter if you prefer.
Cut on the marks using your paper cutter to create 24 strips of paper.
On each 12″ strip, measure to 6″ and draw a mark to show where to cut.
Cut each 12 inch strip of paper in half using your paper cutter.
Using your glue stick, add glue to the end of one 6″ strip.
Attach the two ends of the strip of paper to each other to create a paper ring.
Take another 6 inch strip and add glue to one end. Loop your paper strip through the other ring and attach the ends together.
Keep gluing and attaching your rings together until you have created a long paper chain.
These paper chains make a fun paper craft for kids or simple Christmas decorations. They would look so cute wrapped around a Christmas tree or draped across the backdrop of a dessert table. Feel free to change-up the colors to match any theme.
