Hey friends! I can’t believe the Christmas season is just around the corner. I’m pretty excited to get started on gift wrapping, holiday events and feasting upon delicious food! Right after Thanksgiving, my kids and I worked together to put up my Christmas wall shelf. My vision for this shelf is to decorate for each holiday or season. So here’s the start to my decorating!

Christmas Wall Shelf DIY Decorating Ideas
My family and I do everything within a budget. When I’m decorating for any holiday, I like to check for items that I have on hand before I run out and buy decorations.
This year, we saved money by going out and cutting down pine tree branches from the yard. These smell so good, plus they are free! The branches have been up on my shelf for about a week now and they are still green!
My kids picked piles of pine cones off the ground outside and I spray painted them gold. Once the paint dried, I let my kids arrange the pine cones on our wall shelf. They just loved being a part of our holiday decorating!
Most of my other decorations I found in my Christmas tote. We have a variety of colors of Christmas balls and other wall hangings that we’ve collected over the years. Red, gold and silver Christmas balls were the perfect choice! Red is a Christmas classic and I am partial to metallic colors since they match pretty much any color.
One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is the pretty lights. There is just something cozy about coming into a room that’s all lit up. The lights make the room feel almost magical. Usually we just put lights up on the tree but this year I added lights to my shelf too. You can’t get too many lights!
Although the holidays can get expensive, there are ways to save money and still have super cute decorations. My kids and I loved collecting pine branches and pine cones to accent our wall shelf. I hope you gained some inspiration to assist you in your Christmas decorating.
