My Family’s Opinions of the Book
This story is written in first person, the main character being a little boy named Jack who is celebrating his birthday party. He quotes:
“My superhero celebration was spectacular but Pippa not getting
a party was making me feel miserable. Mom explained that
sometimes parents aren’t able to give their children a birthday party.”
The quote above encourages kids to have empathy for others. When I read this book to my kids who are 7, 5 and 3, they really enjoyed listening to it.
Each year, I let each of my kids pick out a theme for their birthday party and they love to get involved in the planning. This book helped my kids realize that there are some kids that don’t get to celebrate their birthdays with a party. I think it’s so good for kids to learn about helping others in need.
This picture of my 3 year old son Mathias reading the Box of Balloons book. He loved looking at all the fun illustrations by Julie Wells.
Overall, my kids and I loved this book and we really enjoyed learning valuable life lessons. Box of Balloons is such a great organization that helps out children in need! This book would be perfect to donate to your child’s school library or to read with your child at home. You can order your own here. Until next time!
