For my daughter’s 13 birthday, I surprised her with a personalized tote bag! To create the design, I used my Cricut EasyPress mini and Cricut explore 3 machines.

Supplies needed:
Cricut Explore 3
Cricut EasyPress Mini
8″ x 10″ pressing mat
Smart iron on vinyl – black
Smart iron on vinyl – ocean blue
Weeder tool
Scissors (see basic tool set)
Design Space (to create designs)
Parchment paper

To start, I found a graphic and font for my daughter’s name in design space. Design space is a free program that has tons of designs and fonts to choose from! The possibilities are endless for what you can create! You can also check Cricut Access if you’re interested in other special features. This costs a monthly fee.

Once I chose my designs, I cut them out using my Cricut Explore 3 and smart iron on vinyl. I love this kind of vinyl because I don’t need to use a matte when I’m cutting out my design. When cutting out the vinyl, I made sure to place the shiny side down.
Before I cut out the design, I selected “mirror”. This setting flips the the word or picture around so it will iron on the right way.

Once I cut out my front and image, I used my weeding tool to remove the excess vinyl from the liner. The weeding tool is especially handy for detailed or tiny areas. I use mine all the time!

For the next step, I ironed the vinyl design on my tote bag. For my project, I clicked on Cricut heat guide and selected Cricut easy press mini, smart iron-on vinyl & polyester to find the correct heat setting.
I heated up my EasyPress Mini to medium and ironed on my designs for around 25 seconds each. Before I ironed on the design, I heated up the material to help the design adhere to the fabric better.
Then I flipped the bag over and heat up the back side of the vinyl area for around 15 seconds. When the vinyl was cool to the touch, I peeled the clear liner off of my designs.
This DIY tote bag was super fun to make! My daughter really loved her new personalized the bag. I hope your feel inspired to try out a few projects with a Cricut easy press mini.
